U-Bein Bridge




Just south of Mandalay, in the old city of Armurapura, is the 200 year old, rickety U-Bein teak bridge. Crossing U-Bein is to run the gauntlet of touts and hawkers but if you manage to make it across the lake, with pride and dignity still intact, find your way to the venerable Kyauktawgyi Paya. The peaceful stupa and surrounding walled grounds allows you time to recuperate and face the trip back to Armurapura . . .
